A.R. Marani, Inc. has completed work on three Vaccaro's Italian Pastry Shops in the Baltimore Metropolitan area. The first was at the 1st Mariner Tower at Canton Crossing, the second was the renovation of the Little Italy location, and the third was in the Harford Mall.
Little Italy Location - This project consisted of renovating the first and second floors of the Little Italy location while they remained in operation. We temporarily relocated the counter and equipment to the second floor while the first floor was completely demolished back to the structure. We installed new HVAC equipment in the rear area over the bathroom and kitchen area with exposed ductwork and structure in the customer area. We installed a new ceramic floor with a marble inlayed rosette at the entrance. The existing aluminum windows were wrapped with cherry molding to coordinate with the other finishes giving it a more finished look.
We faced the challenges of accommodating the owner, Mr. Vaccaro, with the vision and look he wanted. We fitted all of the aspects into the small space and kept it within a tight budget and schedule. Once we completed the first floor we moved to the second floor where we were going to replace the HVAC unit and update the finishes. This changed when the owner decided that the first floor appearance created such good comments from customers, that the second floor finishes had to duplicate those of the first floor. Despite this major change A.R. Marani, Inc. was able to accommodate the owner’s wishes in an economical and timely fashion.
Harford Mall Location - The project entailed building out a shell space at the Harford Mall. We faced challenges of fitting all of the required kitchen equipment into a small space while providing seating for customers. To solve the space constraints we constructed a storage area above the kitchen with a cantilevered serpentine bulkhead above the display area that provided a space for utilities and storage. This alllowed the customer area to have an open structure industrial look. As a result we were able to provide the owner with the finished appearance that we constructed at the Little Italy and Canton Crossing locations.
